Generative Artificial Intelligence is the future of electronic security and will be featured at Exposec 2024.

The largest international security trade fair in Latin America brings together the latest innovations in the sector and takes place from June 4th to 6th at São Paulo Expo.

São Paulo, May 2024 One of the main challenges in ensuring effective security is having an agile system that identifies potential threats in a given environment, allowing for a faster and more targeted response, preferably in real time. With the constant evolution of digital technologies, the key to this challenge lies in Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI).

Generative AI is the latest evolution in organizations' ability to proactively and effectively detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats. It is capable of "learning" from historical data and identifying emerging patterns that may indicate danger or, we might say, "malicious activity." Technologies of this caliber will be available to visitors at the 25th edition of Exposec – International Security Fair, which will open its doors at São Paulo Expo between June 4th and 6th in São Paulo.

Organized by Fiera Milano Brasil and held by the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies (Abese), Exposec 2024 will bring together the latest technologies, products and services for the Latin American security sector, as well as attract national and international buyers from across the production chain.

“In my opinion, Generative Artificial Intelligence represents the next stage of evolution in algorithms and software, being able to create new content and ideas in various forms, such as conversations, stories, images, videos, and music. Unlike traditional AI approaches, which focus on specific tasks, Generative AI attempts to mimic the creativity and adaptability of human intelligence,” explains Alexandre Krzyzanovski, Engineering Director at Pumatronix., one of the leading national manufacturers of equipment for traffic monitoring and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

The use of traditional Artificial Intelligence in the Brazilian security sector is nothing new and has been becoming widespread for some time. According to the latest Panorama of the Electronic Security Sector, published by Abese, 54% of all security products manufactured in the country already have embedded AI features. Therefore, the adoption of Generative AI is not a distant prospect.

According to the Engineering Director at Pumatronix, in the context of public safety, Generative AI has the ability to analyze images, videos, sounds, and even internet posts, allowing the development of tools and solutions that monitor and analyze suspicious behavior of people and vehicles in a way that was not possible using traditional programming or even standard Machine Learning (ML) models.

“This allows for the generation of automatic alerts for public safety agencies, eliminating the need for constant human supervision. Thus, it is possible to optimize monitoring teams and monitor large areas, neighborhoods, cities, states, and even countries, minimizing the risk of missing critical events or information,” stated Krzyzanovski.

At Exposec, Pumatronix will present to the public the ITSCAM 450+, equipment that features Artificial Intelligence, embedded LPR and APIs, and the ITSCAM FF line, composed of the ITSCAM FF 450 and ITSCAM FF 600 devices, which offer a complete solution in the area of public safety or inspection for Free Flow tolls.

Within the concept of smart cities, WeSafer possesses technology for detecting abnormal situations, as advanced AI algorithms are able to assist professionals in both public and private security, providing elements for making decisions more appropriate to each scenario, generating more efficient responses.

“In the space we will have at Exposec, with our products and solutions strategically positioned and in operation, it will be possible to observe situations such as crowding, fights, and vehicle management through license plate reading,” explains Mauro de Lucca, CEO of WeSafer.

The company was invited by Abese to participate in 'Arena Abese', a space that will simulate a "Safecity" scenario, with the aim of reflecting the reality of Brazil, where there is a growing concern in adopting solutions that improve the safety of people and property.

Intelbras will also be at Exposec and will present intelligent solutions that facilitate the daily lives of people and businesses, through resources that work with AI and various integration possibilities. According to the company, among the highlights is the monitoring management software, Intelbras Defense IA, which has received a series of new features, in addition to being compatible with cameras, CCTV systems, access controllers, alarm systems, metal detectors, among others.

With Intelbras software and equipment integrations, it's possible to perform more efficient video surveillance using smart cameras that capture color images through highly sensitive sensors, even in dark environments, the company reported. Through AI, it's possible to define perimeters, count the number of people in the area, and access various other features.

AI Regulation

For José Lázaro de Sá, Legal specialist in Electronic Security and DPO of Abese, through AI the meThe market has been improving and offering increasingly effective solutions for different public and private security challenges.

“The topic of Artificial Intelligence is trending and has generated relevant debates regarding its applicability and development in various sectors. After all, anything new generates discomfort, and in the case of AI, we are dealing with a highly disruptive technology with extraordinary capabilities, and that can be frightening,” Sá points out.

The lawyer for Abese emphasizes that recently, on the occasion of the publication of the Preliminary Report by the Temporary Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Brazil (CTIA), of the Senate, which intends to regulate AI in Brazil, more worrying than the development of AI would be its stagnation, which would represent a setback for the country.

“Regarding regulation, Abese has been actively participating in the discussions. Specifically regarding the electronic security market, there are indicators of massive use by the industry, which continues to develop and implement AI in its security solutions, refining processes and streamlining results in terms of security and crime-fighting resources, for scenario analysis, instant and assertive alerts, among other possibilities,” he stated.
