In a presentation at Exposec 2025, an economics expert presented optimistic data for the security sector in the coming months.
Exposec 2025 hosted a lecture on Wednesday, June 11th, on the theme of "Macroeconomic Perspectives," presented by the chief economist of FIESP (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), Igor Rocha. The content presented by the guest speaker excited the participating professionals from the industrial sector. According to him, the public security market will receive large-scale government investments, mainly for technological innovation companies.
The speaker opened the proceedings by discussing the global economic landscape and how the governments of major powers have spared no effort or investment in the industrial sector in general, with particular emphasis on defense and security policies. "The United States, for example, has projected an investment of US$170 billion for National Defense and US$70 billion for border defense by 2025. Everything that happens in the major economic centers directly and indirectly affects emerging or developing countries, such as Brazil," he explained.
Following this trend, the Brazilian Federal Government launched the “New Industry Brazil” program, which has a budget of approximately R$ 112 billion for investment in security technology. “The objective is to encourage development and achieve 55 % of mastery of critical technologies by the end of 2026.” The program text also describes the long-term goal of reaching 75% by the end of 2033.
Of this funding, an amount of R$ 4.2 billion comes from FINEP (Financing Agency for Studies and Projects). “Specifically, this amount is the most interesting for companies in advanced technology in security and artificial intelligence. FINEP will receive proposals and approve financing for companies focused on technological innovation. Industrial policy is coming on strong, and as the sector is sensitive to the economic cycle, the time to innovate is now,” said the economist.
Following this optimistic projection, Igor Rocha also pointed out that business owners still have difficulty finding skilled labor and that, for this reason, modernization of the industry is necessary. “One of the biggest challenges is finding qualified labor, as there are few good candidates and many young, uninterested, or inexperienced ones. This is also a challenge that needs to be solved to boost the economic outlook of the sector,” he said.
At the end of the presentation, the speaker discussed the overall Brazilian economic scenario, noting that in the first quarter of 2025 the country experienced GDP growth of 1.41% of the total GDP per quarter (TP3T). “The projection for the next six months is growth of 1.81% of the TP3T, and the most optimistic scenario projects 2.21% of the TP3T by December. In other words, the Brazilian economy is strong, with a focus on the security sector as a global trend and a heating up market. The moment is favorable for all those who have good ideas and put their knowledge to work in search of solutions and advancements in every way,” concluded Igor.
Among the participants, Rio de Janeiro businessman Octavio Pitaluga expressed enthusiasm for the information presented and spoke about his motivation to develop new products to take advantage of the current economic climate and further stimulate the market with new ideas. “I have a data security startup and I’ve always had ideas for developing digital security applications for various sectors. I’ve been working on this with great difficulty since 2023 and now, perhaps, with this injection of investment I can develop a concrete project and obtain the necessary funding to put it into practice,” he said.
