Brazilian high-tech perimeter defense system is highlighted at Exposec.

During the fair, Alfa Sense promoted technological immersion, paid tribute to researchers in the field of photonics, and reinforced its role in strategic perimeter defense projects.

Through technological challenges and interactive exhibits, Alfa Sense, a Brazilian company specializing in optical sensors for perimeter security, surprised visitors during the 26th edition of Exposec – International Security Technology Fair – with its high-tech line of perimeter defense solutions. The solutions developed by this deep tech company feature advanced technology that elevates perimeter security to military-grade protection, utilizing the same technology NASA uses to measure gravitational waves.

Alfa Sense CEO Hamilton Luiz celebrated the success at the fair and the inclination of Brazilians to better understand the high-quality technologies developed in Brazil. “In this edition, we registered more than 600 visitors at our booth. Beyond the success of the event, the interest of Brazilians in learning more about the potential of developing high-level national technologies has caught our attention. We believe we are succeeding in transforming people's mindset to value the development and manufacturing carried out by the national industry and the use of its technologies in perimeter security in Brazil,” he commented.

One of the innovations brought by Alfa Sense to the fair, the 'Perimeter Experience', demonstrated in a simple and practical way how the solution is applied and executed, showcasing the high level of reliability of the technology through an interactive challenge that rewarded with an instant Pix of R$ 20 thousand, whoever managed to penetrate the perimeter without being detected.

In the challenge, the participant had to enter a protected area (simulating a perimeter) without being detected by the technology, containing only fiber optics applied in an almost invisible way, and try to cut the fence and touch a box on the inside that represented their protected asset or high-value property.

Throughout the three days of the fair, there were over 200 intrusion attempts, in all forms: short steps, slow steps, long steps, jumps, rolling on the ground, among others. No one managed to overcome the technology; all were detected with precision before the intrusion, proving the high level of security that the technology delivers, a true perimeter shield. But all participants in the challenge won exclusive prizes such as notebooks, water bottles, backpacks, and Alexas.

The 'Perímetro Experience' also showcased the Fence Lite® solution, developed for small and medium-sized perimeters, with 2 physical zones for up to 2 km and 4 zones for up to 4 km perimeters. It presented the Fence Smart® solution, for larger perimeters, with two equipment versions to cover up to 10 or 20 km, with unlimited virtual zones and precise geolocation of the event, and also the Fence Lite MAX®, produced exclusively for the government sector. This latter technology has four independent zones for up to 4.8 km perimeter, remote operation capability, and has an exclusive manufacturing agreement with Abinee, allowing it to be acquired through exemption from bidding, according to Law No. 14.133/2021.

Immersive knowledge experience on perimeter and high-value asset protection.

During the fair, security expert Colonel Paulo Sérgio Ramalho, a retired São Paulo Military Police officer and founder of Slalom Consulting and Training, gave a lecture entitled 'Perimeter Defense – How to Protect Your Perimeter and High-Value Assets' to over 80 people. Ramalho highlighted the need for society to protect itself and safeguard its assets with high-precision security solutions.

“We need to use Brazilian technologies that understand the modus operandi of criminals and were developed and manufactured by those who researched the various forms of intrusion that can occur within the Brazilian scenario, thus guaranteeing our safety, that of our family, and our assets,” he pointed out.

Ramalho further emphasized the reliability of Alfa Sense's solutions, which have military-grade security standards. "As a security specialist, I've tested various perimeter protection technologies, but I've never found one like those developed by Alfa Sense. Their extremely effective solutions possess what we consultants call a 'Lego box,' as they include a basket of solutions that address any scenario, reduce the client's operational costs, and increase ROI (return on investment)," he explained.

Alfa Sense CEO Hamilton Luiz highlighted that Alfa Sense's innovative technology was developed to meet the most rigorous private and public security standards established by the government. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the system offers high precision in detecting intrusions and evasion attempts. It is widely used in the perimeter protection of strategic facilities.

Tributes to MCTI and Sisfóton

During Exposec, Alfa Sense also held a ceremony to honor two prominent figures in Brazilian science, innovation, and technology. The researchers recognized their work: Felipe Silva Bellucci, General Coordinator of Enabling Technologies at the Secretariat of Technological Development and Innovation (SETEC) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI); and João Batista Rosolem, Coordinator of the Integrating Laboratory of the Sisfóton-MCTI Program, based at CPQD (Center for Research and Development in Telecommunications).

The National System of Photonics Laboratories (Sisfóton-MCTI) is one of the structuring actions of the Brazilian Photonics Initiative, IBFóton, both conceived and coordinated by the MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation). According to Hamilton Luiz, this award aimed to recognize trajectories that drive the innovation ecosystem focused on photonics, a strategic area in the development of advanced technologies in Brazil.

“When you start a business in Brazil, the challenge is great, but when you start a business and innovate simultaneously, the challenge is even greater. That's why it's essential to have partners with a capital “P,” who believe in development and innovation and help us overcome the major challenges that arise in the development of photonics and advanced electronics technology in the country. Therefore, we are holding a well-deserved tribute to recognize and value two great technological visionaries of Brazil,” said Hamilton Luiz.

According to Felipe Silva Bellucci of SETEC, the award represents recognition of a trajectory of great effort by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Secretariat of Technological Development and Innovation (SETEC), to structure a solid base of science, technology and innovation in Brazil. He highlighted that Alfa Sense is the result of a chain of investments that includes research infrastructure, highly qualified human capital and public mechanisms to promote innovation.

Bellucci added that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) celebrated its fortieth anniversary in March of this year, having built a strong knowledge base in the field of research and development. “For 40 years we have been creating the foundations of science, technology and innovation for society, both in the public and private sectors, creating environments conducive to knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship. This has been achieved with an investment exceeding R$1 billion per year over the last five years, through the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT),” he concluded.

Regarding Brazil's technological landscape, the general coordinator of Enabling Technologies at SETEC-MCTI also commented on the reasons why the country is a major hub for the development and production of high technology. “The technology we produce today is world-class and of extremely high quality. Alfa Sense is proof of that. We need to increase the number of companies like this deep tech company in Brazil and more innovative entrepreneurs who can demonstrate that what we generate is of extremely high quality and has a high potential to generate technological sovereignty for Brazil,” Bellucci emphasized.

For researcher João Batista Rosolem, coordinator of the Sisfóton-MCTI Integrative Laboratory, based at CPQD, the tribute is a recognition of his career dedicated to the articulation between science and the market. “The tribute means a lot at this stage of my career and reinforces that joint action between research centers and companies like Alfa Sense is essential to transform knowledge into solutions with high added value,” he pointed out.

With a focus on perimeter defense using fiber optics, Alfa Sense has been consolidating its position as a benchmark in photonics-based security solutions. The company is part of the Sisfóton-MCTI ecosystem and has been expanding its presence in strategic high-tech perimeter defense projects in Brazil for sectors such as Electronic Security, Defense, Energy, Mining, and Oil & Gas.
