A pioneer in opening up access via mobile, the company, which began as an academic hobby of computer scientists at USP (University of São Paulo), is planning to reshape the sector in the post-6x1 scale scenario.
SÃO PAULO – What began a decade ago as an unpretentious hobby between two computer scientists who graduated from USP São Carlos has solidified at Exposec 2026 as one of the most robust access control solutions on the national market. Celebrating 10 years of history, Shielder Tecnologia concluded its participation in the largest trade fair in the sector in Latin America, registering a significantly higher volume of qualified leads and negotiations than in previous editions.
The sales figures and visitor traffic at the pavilion surprised the brand's management with their overwhelming pace and the technical maturity of the attendees. “The first day of the fair felt like the start of a football match or a concert, with people literally running through the corridors as soon as the gates opened. It was very exciting,” reveals Marco Romanelli, Commercial Director of Shielder Tecnologia. “This fair was surprising in terms of the number of qualified leads. We had a very high volume compared to other years, with a qualified audience that came with assertive and specific questions.”
From Academic Hobby to Proprietary Robustness
Shielder's trajectory is a true case study of national entrepreneurship. In 2016, Thiago Abreu and Guilherme left promising positions at multinational technology and telecommunications companies (such as Ericsson and IBM) to develop a solution from scratch to solve the problems of the condominium where they lived. With the arrival of the third partner, Marco Romanelli, a specialist in the security market, the academic project with its own intellectual property, 100%, gained market scale.
“When we finalized the software ten years ago, we were the only ones who could tap on the cell phone and allow you to open the door from there. Today, the market presents this as a major novelty, but we were born with this mobile DNA,” recalls Thiago Abreu, Partner and CFO of Shielder. The executive recalls the institutional turning point: “There was an afternoon when our partner announced that he had resigned from a large multinational. Right then, we jumped out of the plane together without parachutes and made the business happen from scratch. Today, the rest is history.”.
Smart 4G Access Control and the Post-6x1 Shift Remodeling
Shielder's evolution has transformed the pioneering software into a complete ecosystem that unifies three different access control formats into a single integrated platform. The system features advanced resources such as scheduling common areas, asset control, package management, stolen vehicle recognition, and automated search tools for arrest warrants.
To demonstrate the maturity of its physical infrastructure, Shielder, in partnership with Phoenix Seg, deployed its entire remote access control solution in the building in real time, connected only by a 4G cellular network modem. The technology proved capable of transmitting large camera images and managing remote access without fluctuations.
This technological advancement arrives at a strategic moment, driven by national discussions about ending the 6x1 work schedule, which promises to render traditional physical security systems obsolete due to logistical and personnel costs. “I believe there won't be a simple replacement, but rather a complete market reshaping,” points out Marco Romanelli. “Remote security systems have matured significantly. They resolve major vulnerabilities of physical security systems, such as the risk of coercion of security guards and flawed control criteria. The 6x1 schedule will strongly favor the implementation of these remote control centers.”
Expansion Contracted for 2027
In its fifth participation in the fair, Shielder Tecnologia confirmed that the pavilion has become an essential showcase for the company's growth. “The fair always surprises us with the maturing of the market. For Exposec 2027, our presence is more than confirmed. The goal is to further expand our booth structure to accommodate the new technologies we are already designing for next year,” concludes Romanelli.
