Held from May 10th to 12th, 2016, at São Paulo Expo, in São Paulo, the 19th edition of EXPOSEC | International Security Fair It ended with a record number of visitors, surpassing... 42,000 visitors.
The main event and technological showcase in Latin America for the security sector, the fair brought together 800 exhibiting brands, National and international companies that presented solutions for the electronic, private, personal, property, and business security segments.

Technological innovations
The fair introduced the market to more than 10,000 items on display. Among the new features, the following stood out. Full HD cameras, the different types of biometrics e intelligent software. The solutions are used for various applications such as: integrated security projects; information security; electronic security technology applied to connectivity; projects integrating information security and asset protection areas; and integration of electronic security with automation and the internet.
According to the President of ABESE, Selma Migliori, EXPOSEC 2016 exceeded expectations. “"The trade show is the major technological stage for the electronic security sector and a catalyst for new business, bringing together leading brands in the segment each year. In addition, it offers training, knowledge dissemination, and professional development, showcasing technological solutions and how to use them."”. The executive also highlighted some of the association's actions carried out at the event, such as the launch of the validation of the certification for the industry associated with ABESE and a guide aimed at consumers, in addition to holding the 2nd edition of TecShow, which presented visitors with some cutting-edge technologies such as remote access control, intelligent software, and IP cameras that capture images from a long distance.
Sector Potential
The electronic security market continues to register growth rates. Revenue in 2015 was 61% higher than in 2014, reaching R$5.4 billion. For 2016, the outlook for the sector is for growth of 4 to 5%, with revenue of approximately R$5.6 billion.
According to Selma Migliori, President of ABESE, this occurs due to a combination of factors. “On one hand, business owners are seeking alternatives to face the challenges of the crisis and are making their companies more competitive through investments in new technologies, product and service quality, training, and production capacity. On the other hand, the opportunities generated by the reduction in security investments by federal, state, and municipal governments are stimulating private investment, facilitating access to new technologies, the need for individuals and companies to continue investing in preventative security and updating existing systems, and also the reduction in imports caused by the rise in the exchange rate.”.
COBRASE – On May 11th, visitors to the fair had the opportunity to benefit from the exchange of information and experiences at the 27th Brazilian Private Security Congress (COBRASE). The event, open to the public, featured seven renowned speakers in the field of security, adding knowledge and contributing to promoting debate on topics related to the sector.
Renato Prado, a graduate in Network Administration and Electronic Security Systems Consultant, opened the Congress speaking about "The Growing Trend of Integrated Platforms in Electronic Security Systems." According to the expert, the convergence of actions between professionals and automation and surveillance systems is a strong trend in the electronic security market. He believes that the efficiency of connections between various communication networks is facilitated through the development of advanced software and the use of protocols, which are conventions that control and enable communication between two or more different platforms.
Next, Luiz Carlos Gabriel, journalist, professor, and editor of the magazines Security and Incêndio, and author of several books, spoke about "Corporate Security: Luxury or Necessity?". According to Gabriel, the instinct for self-preservation is inherent to human beings, and the prominent feeling of threat motivates the need for protection and security. For the speaker, the evolution of crimes against people and property, the diversity of business activities and their common and inherent risks, contribute to the advancement of protection and security measures. Based on this principle, security has ceased to be a luxury and has become a necessary factor. To conclude the lecture, the journalist emphasized that..., “"When it comes to private security, the concepts are enduring; what changes are the methods of operation.".
Another highlight of the Congress was the presentation by Rede Globo security commentator and security consultant, Diógenes Viegas Dalle Lucca, who discussed “Education for Security – Urban Violence.” Diógenes pointed out that the concept of security has improved in recent years, but is still far from ideal. He stressed that the population, in general, needs to understand that security and prevention issues transcend the role of the government and the police. According to Diógenes, the great challenge is to understand that security is, above all, quality of life, and for this, it is necessary to invest in a culture of prevention. As his main tip, the speaker made it clear that it is of utmost importance to be connected so as not to lose awareness of imminent risks, and thus not become victims of urban violence.
EXPOSHOW – With a program of free content and updates provided by exhibitors, EXPOSHOW promoted the exchange of information and technologies and strengthened the interaction between companies and visitors. The event brought together various experts and professionals from the market during its three days. The lectures addressed technical topics of relevance to the sector such as electronic security, internet information security, facial recognition, new technologies applied to CCTV, and the tracking market, highlighting 18 important segments of the industry.
1st Information Security Island – With free lectures and training sessions, EXPOSEC hosted the 1st Information Security Island. The initiative, a partnership between Cipa Fiera Milano and the Daryus Group – Consulting and Training, aimed to train professionals and disseminate knowledge and information in the areas of governance, risk, and..., compliance, information security and cybersecurity. Approximately 300 professionals visited the event and will receive a certificate of participation.
The program was very well received by the public as it deals with a very current topic. According to the organizers, among the subjects that generated the most interest were the Information Security Training, the lecture Electronic Crimes – Information Sharing, and the Roundtable: Integrated Information Security Management.
WDC Networks – WDC Networks and Hikvision held free training sessions on IP technology during EXPOSEC. According to the organizers, the current market is migrating from analog to IP, and professionals are seeking information to stay updated. Over the three days of the event, more than 900 people participated in the training sessions, gaining access to experts and exchanging knowledge about intelligent security systems, new alarm control panels, access controls, and integration platforms. WDC Networks took advantage of EXPOSEC to exclusively launch an app that allows professionals in the field to interact, exchange information about systems, new technologies, and even discuss questions and improvements to products. The app is available for Android and will soon be released for iOS.
Samsung Wisenet / Hanwha Techwin America – Samsung Wisenet offered 15 courses with over 2,200 places, aiming to promote technical knowledge for the attendees of the trade show – from basic to advanced levels – empowering them through short, free courses conducted by the Wisenet ACADEMY specialist team – the company's Training and Development area. Claudemir Martins, Training Manager for Latin America, emphasized that the objective was to broaden knowledge. "We are committed to contributing to the training of professionals for the sector.".
Samsung Sales and Marketing Congress – The congress focused on improving companies' planning, sales, leadership, and marketing processes and featured nine lectures, each lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. According to Edson Santos, Marketing Coordinator for the Southern Cone, the initiative aimed to strengthen relationships with channels and thus offer business development tools, training, marketing, and technical solutions that meet the needs of residential and corporate projects.
