A EXPOSEC | International Security Fair The 20th edition concluded with 800 exhibitors, 40,000 square meters, and over 42,000 visitors. This represents a growth of 301,000 years. Selma Migliori, President of ABESE | Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies, which organizes the fair in conjunction with Cipa Fiera Milano, emphasized the privilege of celebrating the 20th edition. “We are here celebrating 20 years of hard work, challenges and achievements! We arrived in 2017 bigger and with a significant increase in quality. As business owners, we know how difficult it is to achieve this feat. Exposec will continue to evolve and reflect the present and promising future of this market.”.
Established as the largest event for the security sector in Latin America, Exposec showcased numerous product launches and new technologies, and provided knowledge in seven auditoriums that offered content through free lectures and workshops throughout the event.
According to Rimantas Sipas, Commercial Director of Cipa Fiera Milano, as it completes its 20th edition, the fair consolidates itself as the main opportunity to boost new business, present technologies and create networking among professionals in the sector. “"This edition was surprising for the diversity of products, record audience, and unprecedented content that we were able to offer."”.
COBRASE
On May 24th, the Brazilian Congress of Private Security | COBRASE The event brought together four speakers to discuss private security. Professionals made contact with prominent figures in the sector: businessman Roberto Costa, Director of DESEG – the Security Department of FIESP; Lieutenant Colonel Diógenes Lucca, a veteran of the Military Police; personal security specialist Antônio Carlos Biagione; and security consultant Luiz Carlos Gabriel.
Roberto Costa addressed the topic of prevention with his lecture "Safety is a Lifestyle." According to the expert, people should have a better relationship with safety.. "Be careful when arriving and leaving home, understand access systems, passwords, etc. It's necessary to educate yourself for prevention in everyday life. Violence has always been present. Adopting safe habits is the way to manage security, after all, this is also quality of life, just like health, leisure and education."“, He highlighted that, according to data from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat, in 2016 the city of São Paulo registered 1 crime for every 30 inhabitants. “"We must also consider that these are the reported crimes; there are also unreported incidents.".
A well-known name in the sector, prevention and security specialist Diógenes Lucca joined the police force at age 15 and was part of the founding of GATE – the Special Tactical Actions Group of the Military Police, which he commanded for seven years. Diógenes drew a parallel between the Elite Troop and high-performance companies. “"You are what you deliver. That's how it is in the Elite Squad, that's how it is in a high-performance company. You have to have the will to do the work. Be ambitious. Always strive for more. Do more and better, all the time."”.
Diogenes also shared some leadership lessons that can be applied to businesses. “"A leader must be involved and aware of what their team does, delegating tasks, not responsibilities. Dealing with conflict is also part of the day-to-day."”. For him, it's essential to have a cohesive and well-structured team. “"Evaluate each individual's potential, performance, competence, and commitment. But always keep in mind that no one gets there alone. It's all teamwork.".
Exposhow – Exhibitor Presentations
Approximately 30 topics were covered at Exposhow. Presented by exhibitors at the fair, the lectures revolved around important security themes, focusing on presenting new technologies and market opportunities. Among the topics were: The Internet of Things; New opportunities in the tracking market; Perspectives for the electronic security market in the next 10 years; Integrated security; How new technologies can save your company; How the use of artificial intelligence will revolutionize electronic security; and Drone monitoring.
Vulnerability Mapping Course
The morning of the third day of Exposec was marked by the course "Vulnerability Mapping in Corporate Security". The meeting brought together professionals from the private security field, managers, surveillance supervisors, managers of surveillance and electronic security companies, and occupational safety technicians, to hear from security consultant Luiz Carlos Gabriel.
The expert discussed the security management process and the issue of prevention, in order to mitigate business risks. He demonstrated, both theoretically and practically, how to map vulnerabilities, identify critical areas, and efficiently utilize corrective measures to eliminate or reduce risks. “"Corporate security is already an integral part of management processes, since it is responsible for providing the necessary conditions to prevent problems from recurring," concluded Luiz Gabriel.
Arena Drone
New to the 20th edition of Exposec, the Drone Arena offered live demonstrations showcasing different types of drones for a variety of applications. Companies Drones Brasil, Prosegur, and Seagate presented the latest market innovations to the event's audience, guaranteeing professional, commercial, and consumer opportunities. Innovations in the security field included drones capable of conducting internal patrols through control centers, providing surveillance and inspection services, and even offering anti-intrusion lines with solutions that detect "spy drones" or unauthorized drones flying over the area.
