The 21st edition of the largest security fair in Latin America received 45,000 visitors seeking new solutions in products and services in the segments of Electronic, Private, Personal, Public, Property and Business Security.
São Paulo, May 25, 2018 – Participation in the 21st Exposec – International Security Fair, the largest event in the sector in Latin America, and the volume of business closed or initiated exceeded the expectations of the event participants. For Rimantas Sipas, director of Cipa Fiera Milano, organizer and promoter of the fair, the results prove the positive moment the security sector is experiencing in the country. “It is a segment that is bucking the national economic trend, showing robust growth and with various investments in new technologies, as we saw at Exposec 2018.”
This year, the fair brought together around 800 exhibiting brands and 45,000 visitors, including companies and security professionals. Next year, the 22nd Exposec will be held between May 21st and 23rd at São Paulo Expo.
Selma Migliori, president of ABESE (Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies), believes that Exposec represents a milestone in the event's history. "Our visitors were able to see firsthand how much the sector has evolved: the ABESE Startup Island, the City Camera project, and the launch of the IoT Committee linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) are some examples of how we are prepared to meet market demands for disruptive solutions," she states.
With revenues exceeding R$6 billion in 2017, the electronic security sector is expected to grow by an additional R$813 this year, driven by a slight market upturn, particularly in the video monitoring and remote access control segments. This data comes from ABESE. Currently, the country has over 26,000 electronic security companies. And Exposec serves as a showcase to leverage this growth.
Positive balance for companies
With over 85% renewals for Exposec 2019, exhibitors reinforce this assessment of Exposec's success. Rogério Rodrigues, Commercial Director of Channels at Hikvision, He noted that, in addition to the large number of people, the booth received many visitors from the security industry, "giving the fair great commercial quality. We are satisfied with what we have accomplished so far. Some negotiations were only initiated or were pending and were finalized because of the fair." The executive anticipated that by the end of this year the company will launch 60 new products on the national market.
According to Henrique Fernandez, director of the electronic security unit at Intelbras, Exposec reinforced the fact that it is "the main fair on our calendar, and we have already confirmed our presence next year. "Overall, the fair was very good, with a well-selected audience and exhibitors acting in a professional manner, in addition to a significant increase in national companies, reflecting the economic growth, albeit timid, of the country.".
This is also the assessment of other companies participating in Exposec. For Marco Barbosa, director of Came do Brasil, The overall result was positive, despite the unstable economic scenario. “We received clients from all over Brazil and Mercosur, and therefore, the fair is an important relationship channel for current and potential clients to learn about new products and trends in access control. We initiated some contacts that should represent 25% of new projects generated throughout this year. We have many high-tech equipment that we intend to bring from the Italian headquarters in the second half of the year.”
“The audience, from last year to this year, grew not only in quantity but also in quality. Our challenge this year was to generate business in these three days equivalent to 60 days at the factory. We managed to exceed the goal by 15% compared to the last edition. JFL is already working on products for launches here in 2019 and planning new business. We have also expanded our distributor network: there are already more than 200 throughout Brazil,” celebrates Fernando Barbosa Mota, commercial director of JFL. JFL Alarms.
“We exceeded all expectations for closing sales,” says Ana Laura Imaizumi, sales manager of [company name]. Fulltime. "The in-person meeting with the client at the trade show is very important to facilitate the closing of deals that have been underway. Participation is essential and yields great results. From here, we can work with clients for an entire year."“
David Girelli, Marketing Manager at Nice in Brazil, "We continue to be surprised by the volume of people visiting our stand. The event was a success." "Many clients were present, and many new ones were contacting us, interested in working with Nice solutions, attracted mainly by the wide range and technology of the brand's products," he stated. Girelli also mentioned that many deals were closed and clients are interested in finalizing acquisitions in the coming days.“
Cobrase
The importance of private security interacting with public security to reduce crime, both inside and outside companies, was highlighted at Cobrase – the Brazilian Security Congress. One of the examples presented was the case of HC FMUSP (Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of São Paulo), which developed a security master plan with the installation of smart cameras and programmable turnstiles. The heavy investment in new security technologies eliminated theft and robbery incidents within the unit and even contributed to a reduction in crime in the surrounding area.
On the other hand, participants were warned that criminals are appropriating technologies, such as drones, for their crimes. To prevent this, the Rio de Janeiro government is testing smart streetlights in public areas, with hidden cameras for monitoring.
ESS Security and Hospitality Congress
The ESS Security and Hospitality Congress provided Exposec attendees with information on the importance of developing an integrated security policy across all segments of hospitals, shopping centers, and hotels. These projects should align with the objectives and needs of the institutions, which, according to experts present at the Congress, ensures greater efficiency in investments and lower costs. Access control in hospitals, with facilitators such as access control kiosks, was highlighted as fundamental.
Arena Drone
Among the attractions at Exposec, the Drone Arena showcased the evolution of equipment that incorporates technological advancements. One of these is thermal imaging, which has been highlighted as a key factor in the increasing use of drones in the area of property security. According to Bruno Jouan, commercial director of SegurPro, the drone mapping/surveillance sector continues to grow. "It's not just about cost reduction, but also about increased security. It's the best of both worlds," says Jouan, noting that aerial mapping by drones is much faster, broader, and more effective than ground-based mapping (done by security guards in a car, for example).
ABESE Startup Island
For the first time, Exposec featured an exclusive area for startups, early-stage companies developing innovative products or services with the potential for rapid growth. These emerging business models in real-world security presented several innovations in both product and service areas, with low costs and unprecedented solutions. Among them was a system that identifies sounds and, integrated with traffic cameras, can capture images of accidents or crimes thanks to the mobility offered by the system, which directs the cameras to the incident. Currently, according to Ivo Frazão of Áudio Alerta, the system's developer, the cameras are fixed, which limits their operation.
A system developed by Retina Vision, created by students from the Polytechnic School of USP (University of São Paulo), emerges as a solution to the difficulty of recovering stolen cars. Using simple cameras, they developed software capable of identifying a vehicle and generating an alert for the insurance company.
