Control ID is growing steadily in the access control field and has launched several high-quality solutions at competitive prices. To discuss this, we spoke with Diego Santos, commercial manager of the Access Control Division at Control ID.

Electronic Security Magazine: How does Control iD work and what does the company offer to the security market?
Diego Santos: Control ID is a technology company that has specialized in manufacturing access control systems for over 13 years. We manufacture time clocks, access control systems, turnstiles, commercial automation, biometric solutions, proximity systems, and more. We offer the market intuitive, easy-to-use products with a distinctive design that attracts buyers. Another differentiator is our biometric algorithm, considered by NIST to have the highest accuracy and lowest false acceptance and false rejection rates, all while achieving record authentication times, identifying 1:1 and 1:N users in less than half a second. This facilitates the recognition of fingers damaged by chemicals, elderly individuals, and various other variables.
Electronic Security Magazine: And how does the company's commercial policy work?
Diego Santos: We operate as manufacturers within the supply chain and have distributors throughout Brazil and also throughout Latin America, and our distributors serve integrators and resellers.
Electronic Security Magazine: What does a company need to be a Control ID distributor?
Diego Santos: It needs to be a company that wants to bring to the customer, to the reseller, a solution that, first and foremost, meets the visual and technical demands and desires of the product – beautiful, high-quality, and with a differentiated cost. Our solutions are attractive, technological, and competitively priced. We have high-end products, which are solutions that compete with brands of that profile, but we also have prices and products to reach the low-end niche.
Furthermore, we deliver a complete line of access control, not only the terminal, but also the turnstile, the gate, and everything plug-and-play, ready for installation; all you need is a power and network connection, and you'll have a functional solution. The entire line features embedded web software, server-side software for managing multiple devices, and more. Our partners appreciate these features and especially the customization capabilities of our line; we deliver both ready-made and customized solutions.
An example of customization occurred in a hospital with 320 doors in São Paulo. The project required integration with the elevator systems; when a visitor registers and provides biometric data, the turnstile identifies the person and their destination floor. The turnstile then communicates with the elevator's control board, indicating the nearest elevator, and the elevator display shows the correct elevator for the user, eliminating the need for the visitor to press any buttons. We completed this entire customization and integration in just 60 days. The ability to meet specific demands and our commercial policy are some of the points that attract distributors in the market.
Electronic Security Magazine: What are the trends for 2019?
Diego Santos: We have just launched new turnstiles, such as the BQC line, where the arm disengages in case of a fire emergency; we launched the counter turnstile, which features a 7-inch touchscreen display showing the person's photo, with a bold design and a competitive price; we also offer fully controlled, domestically produced turnstiles ready for installation. Furthermore, we will launch new products in the second half of this year, such as a lite biometric controller – a low-end biometric product, small, and with an IP65 version for outdoor installation – and a facial recognition line. We will move beyond fingerprint-only biometrics and embrace facial recognition.
Electronic Security Magazine: What are the main verticals you serve?
Diego Santos: We cater to everyone from low-end virtual concierge services, or installers implementing our solutions within condominiums, to large national and international integrators. We have products for every client profile and every market.
Electronic Security Magazine: Would you like to leave a message for those who want to learn more about Control ID?
Diego Santos: We invite professionals to learn about and test our products. Sometimes we only have one brand in mind and don't open ourselves up to learning about new companies, so allow yourself to get to know Control ID. If you want to see our facilities and test our products, we are open to receiving you. We also have a presence at the main security market events, such as Exposec, ISC Brasil and the Electronic Security Magazine Road Shows.
