The 22nd edition of the largest security trade show in Latin America welcomed 45,000 visitors seeking new solutions in products and services in the security sector and showcased trends with the ABESE Connect Arena.
São Paulo, June 2019 The volume of deals closed or initiated exceeded the participants' expectations. 22nd Exposec – International Security Fair, The largest event in the sector in Latin America. For Rimantas Sipas, Commercial Director of Cipa Fiera Milano, organizer and promoter of the fair, the results prove the positive moment the security sector is experiencing in the country. This year, the fair brought together around 800 exhibiting brands and 45,000 visitors, including companies and security professionals.
“The innovations in products presented by the companies, including the ABESE Connect Arena, with the participation of security managers, IoT professionals, and startups, were the big news at this edition of Exposec. This shows that the sector is growing with investments in new technologies to serve the market, with more efficient solutions,” says Sipas.
According to Selma Migliori, president of ABESE (Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies), the 22nd edition of Exposec was a milestone for the electronic security sector in Brazil. “The event consolidated the connection between security and new technologies, such as IoT. We were able to present security solutions that are in line with new business opportunities and that have kept pace with all the transformations in our market. This constant updating makes us proud and certainly motivates us for the great innovations planned for 2020,” she stated.
With a revenue of R$6.52 billion in the country in 2018, an increase of 8% compared to 2017, the sector expects to grow by 1% this year, driven by new technologies that facilitate the installation and use of security solutions. The data comes from the National Survey on Electronic Security, conducted by SMG exclusively for ABESE with industries, distributors, and service providers throughout the country, which also indicated that among the most sought-after solutions are: video surveillance and wired and wireless alarm systems. Currently, Brazil has more than 26,000 electronic security companies.
According to a recent survey by ABESE, out of a total of 22,000 companies in the sector (including industry, distributors, and service providers), 8% are manufacturers, of which 31% produce cameras. In the last 12 months, these companies sold approximately 600,000 cameras per year, or 50,000 cameras per month in Brazil.
Expectations exceeded
With a qualified audience, the exhibitors confirmed the organizers' vision. Paulo Schwochow, director of Seventh, Schwochow, a company that develops technology for image management and remote access control and has been at Exposec since 2007, considers the event a success. With 19 monthly monitoring contracts closed by the beginning of the third day of the fair, Schwochow assures that customer participation and the prospecting of new partners exceeded expectations. "We had 25 people at our booth who attended to visitors the entire time," he says.
According to Cláudio Blatt, commercial director of Elsys, “Exposec is one of the most important events of the year, and we are very pleased to participate in the fair for the eighth time.” Blatt recalls that this year they prepared the largest booth in the company's history at Exposec, where they presented product lines and launches for the security segment, such as access controls and cameras, as well as the integration of these devices with Smarty, and the device for streaming on TV. “It was three days of great interaction with clients and partners from all over Brazil, with new business contacts and many deals closed,” says Blatt.
Strengthen relationships with clients and acquire new contacts. With this objective, the Inside, The company had the pleasant surprise of closing deals during the fair. "We brought special sales conditions, but we know that Exposec's impact lasts for up to a year afterward," says Claudemir Hellmann, CEO of the company that until 2017 participated in conjunction with other exhibitors and two years ago opted for its own stand.
At Exposec for 12 years, the IntelbrasThe company presented its largest booth at the fair, spanning 500 m², showcasing 130 new equipment solutions in facial recognition, solar energy, wireless alarm systems, and more. For Henrique Fernandes, director of the company's Security Unit, Exposec is an extremely important fair. "It's another opportunity to listen to our partners, launch products firsthand, and close deals," he analyzes. Fernandes also praised the initiative of creating the ABESE Connect Arena. "We believe these spaces for exchanging experiences, new technologies, and knowledge are important for the sector. This integration is vital for the development of the Brazilian security market," says Fernandez, guaranteeing that he plans to participate in the 2020 edition.
ABESE Arena Connect
New to Exposec this year, the ABESE Connect Arena brought together the expertise of universities with the entrepreneurship of startups, in IoT Engagers Island. Projects developed by researchers were presented that are expected to soon reach the market with Internet of Things-based solutions for diverse applications – in education, sustainability, security, and analytics, among others.
Another highlight at the Arena was the Brazilian IoT Forum, This group, comprised of companies, experts, and stakeholders interested in the topic, aims to build a Strategic Agenda for Research, Development, and Innovation, coupled with a Work Program to foster the consolidation of the IoT ecosystem in Brazil, the training of professionals, and the dissemination of qualified information so that the country becomes a global player in the sector.
Already Startup IslandThe event featured companies selected through a process conducted by ABESE's Startup Committee, designed to connect the traditional security sector with new entrepreneurs, accelerating the validation, development, and expansion of new businesses across the sector. The nine selected startups presented innovative and functional products and business models for the national or global security market. Among the innovations are solutions based on the Internet of Things, drones, and others.
2nd Hospitality Security Congress
The ESS Security and Hospitality Congress provided Exposec attendees with information on the importance of developing an integrated security policy across all segments of hospitals, shopping centers, and hotels. These projects should align with the objectives and needs of the institutions, which, according to experts present at the Congress, ensures greater efficiency in investments and lower costs. Access control in hospitals, with facilitators such as access control kiosks, was highlighted as fundamental.
1st ESS Integrated Condominium Seminar – Far beyond 4.0, integrating people and technologies.
Organized by ESS – Escola Superior de Segurança (Higher School of Security), the 1st ESS Integrated Condominium Seminar discussed topics such as master plans and modern strategic planning for condominiums; artificial intelligence applied to condominium security; new Internet of Things (IoT) technologies; and the impact of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) on security.
