São Paulo, May 2019 – Exposec, the largest Latin American electronic security trade fair, opened to the public this Tuesday (21) at São Paulo Expo. The latest innovations in integrated systems, autonomous equipment and artificial intelligence aimed at improving people's quality of life are being demonstrated by 800 exhibiting brands. A market that has been in constant growth, according to unprecedented research carried out by ABESE – Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies.
According to the survey, in a total universe of 22,000 companies in the sector (including industry, distributors and service providers), 8% are manufacturers, of which 31% produce cameras. In the last 12 months, these companies sold approximately 600,000 cameras per year or 50,000 cameras per month in Brazil.

Promoting social inclusion through the Internet of Things (IoT). With this objective, the Brazilian IoT Forum, which is part of the ABESE Connect Arena during the 22nd Exposec, presents its Academy Panel.
With numerous presentations on the various segments of Internet of Things use within a dedicated auditorium, the Forum brings relevant new developments, according to Tamiko Hayashida, an assistant at the institution. Created in 2011, the Forum conducted a successful pilot test in São Caetano do Sul. "We presented the project to the Ministry of Education (MEC) for social inclusion via the Internet of Things, which was very well received," she said.

It is a unique platform created by professors, researchers, and students of the educational institution within the concept of connecting machines, cities, infrastructure elements, vehicles, and residences in a network to report their status, receive instructions, and even perform actions based on the information received.
According to Antonio Puliti, an intern at the Electronics and Telecommunications Division of the Mauá Institute, the platform was based on the open protocol technology LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network), developed specifically with IoT in mind, where low energy consumption is paramount for devices operated without being powered by the electrical grid.
Since its creation, the Smart Campus It has already achieved good results, as was seen in a graduation project carried out in 2017, which monitored water consumption in water meters of a building in Mauá. Another project developed by students, which also gained prominence with the use of the system, was a firearm monitoring system. This system measured every action of the weapon using an accelerometer inside the revolver, and it was possible to verify if there was any movement or even if shots had been fired.
