Smart cities, 5G, Internet of Things. Opportunities for the expansion of the electronic security sector were the topic of the panel “Innovation in Security 4.0”, held on September 3rd during the Conexão Abese Online event. The three-day event was promoted by Abese (Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies).
According to Erico Przeybilovicz, project coordinator on smart cities at the CTI (Information Technology Center) Renato Archer, the development of federal public policies to encourage digital transformation generates an increased demand for security solutions.
He cited as one example the National Internet of Things (IoT) Plan, created by decree in 2019 with the aim of promoting efficiency gains in services and increasing the competitiveness of Brazilian companies in the sector.
Przeybilovicz, who has been developing a model to measure the maturity of smart cities in the country, stated that security solutions in so-called smart cities These include video surveillance systems, sensor and GPS monitoring, and the use of drones.
“I believe that the participation of companies in the sector would be extremely interesting, in the sense of presenting innovative solutions,” he said. Furthermore, the researcher highlighted the importance of the security industry in encouraging the digitalization of cities. “Taking advantage of the ecosystem, all the reach that the sector has at the national level, to engage municipalities in participating in the programs would be very helpful,” he stated.
Hermano Pinto Jr., Business Director at Futurecom, pointed out that the emergence of 5G networks opens new perspectives for technological applications in the sector. “Connectivity is central to digital transformation,” he stated. “5G brings expanded broadband capacity. It can achieve massive connectivity – so you can put a whole bunch of IoT devices inside a cell.”
