Partnership agreement signed between Inova/USP and ABESE marks the opening of Exposec 2022.

The opening ceremony of the 23rd Exposec – International Security Fair was marked, on the morning of this Tuesday (7), by the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Innovation Center of the University of São Paulo – Inova/USP and the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies – ABESE, which holds the fair in partnership with Fiera Milano Brasil.

The agreement, which aims to encourage Research and Development in the area of electronic security, fits perfectly with the exhibition's proposal, which brings together 800 exhibiting brands, to present technological innovations in the segment and discuss the future of the sector, according to Maurício Macedo, CEO of Fiera Milano Brasil.

Selma Migliori, president of ABESE, highlighted during her speech that partnerships are essential to stimulate the development of new technologies. "That's why we signed this agreement, with the goal of promoting the evolution of electronic security systems.".

Marcelo Knörich Zuffo, coordinator of Inova/USP, recalled that the project is a space that aims to aggregate and integrate laboratories and various initiatives in a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to the development of research and innovation.

At the ceremony, Macedo reiterated that trade fairs are important drivers of economic development, not only because of the business generated in the aisles and stands, but also because of the multiplier effect they have in boosting the hotel, gastronomy, commerce, and the entire tourism and services production chain in the cities where they are held. The executive also took the opportunity to thank the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, who was represented by the municipal secretary of Urban Security, Elza Paulina de Souza, "for the warm welcome he gave us during the meeting of Ubrafe – the Brazilian Union of Trade Fair and Business Event Promoters – for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding aimed at carrying out a series of coordinated actions between the public authorities and representatives of the sector to position São Paulo as a benchmark destination for trade fairs and business events.".

The president of ABESE began her speech by requesting a minute of silence in honor of the victims of Covid-19. She highlighted the challenges faced by the world during the pandemic. “After two years without the possibility of holding this fair, here we are connected to begin the 23rd edition of Exposec, the largest security fair in Latin America. I realized that this connection is stronger than I myself imagined. It is common to all the actors present here. It is solid, and it is full of purpose. But what purpose? To care for others!”

The Municipal Secretary of Urban Security reminded everyone that we are still in a recovery phase and that "the fair is an important moment to discuss this major issue, which is the security of citizens and businesses." Also present at the event, General João Camilo Pires de Campos, Secretary of State for Public Security, representing Governor Rodrigo Garcia, highlighted the increasing use of technology by state security forces and programs such as Detecta, which gathers information about the sector and makes it available to all organizations. Chosen in a call made by the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies – ABESE to integrate the Startup Island, these companies are betting on the visibility of the fair to get clients and, who knows, investors.

Developed by startup Intralab IO, Lucy, the artificial intelligence solution, is the first to integrate security, automation, and monitoring. With a B2B model, the solution enables electronic security companies to meet the most specific demands of the end consumer. The Lucy platform interacts with more than 40 devices from different manufacturers and continues to evolve to absorb new needs in a customized way for different scenarios.

Alexandre Caravieri, Commercial Director of Intralab IO, says that Lucy has been on the market since the beginning of January. "This is the first trade show where we are presenting this solution, and it's an important moment because the market is beginning to recover.".

With major clients such as Ecovias and Entrevias, two highway concessionaires in the state of São Paulo, Omnicog sees Exposec as an opportunity to gain more visibility and make contacts with potential investors. "The fair is an important occasion to showcase our product to potential buyers and perhaps even investors," assures Fernanda Gomes, Inside Sales at the startup.
