The importance of holding the International Security Fair (Exposec), after two years of pandemic, is highlighted in the opening speeches of the event.

The new era of connected security is the theme of the 23rd edition of the International Security Fair (Exposec 2022), considered the largest fair in the sector in Latin America, which opened today, June 7th, at São Paulo Expo. The event runs until the 9th, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and features the main launches and innovations from more than 800 exhibiting brands in the segments of private, personal, public, property and corporate electronic security.

The opening ceremony was attended by Selma Migliori, president of the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies (Abese); Maurício Duval Macedo, CEO of Fiera Milano Brasil, organizer of the event in partnership with Abese; Commander Elza Paulina de Souza, Municipal Secretary of Urban Security of São Paulo, representing Mayor Ricardo Nunes; and General João Camilo Pires de Campos, Secretary of Public Security of the State of São Paulo, representing Governor Rodrigo Garcia. All unanimously highlighted the importance of holding Exposec in person at this time of economic recovery in the country, after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Exposec in synergy with the leading role of São Paulo

Eduardo Macedo, from Fiera Milano, recalled that trade fairs are important drivers of economic development, not only because of the business generated in the aisles and stands, but also because of the multiplier effect they have in boosting the hotel, gastronomy, commerce, and the entire tourism and services production chain in the cities where they are held. The executive also took the opportunity to thank the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, "for the warm welcome he gave us during the meeting of Ubrafe – the Brazilian Union of Trade Fair and Business Event Promoters – for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding aimed at carrying out a series of coordinated actions between the public authorities and representatives of the sector to position São Paulo as a benchmark destination for trade fairs and business events.".

Macedo observed that Fiera Milano Brasil strongly believes in the potential of activities linked to exhibitions. "We are pleased with the opportunity and space to work on initiatives that further enhance the leading role of the city of São Paulo as the trade fair capital of South America," stated Macedo.

Selma Migliori began her speech by requesting a minute of silence in memory of the victims of COVID-19 and announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Innovation Center of the University of São Paulo – Inova/USP and Abese. The agreement, which aims to encourage Research and Development in the area of electronic security, fits perfectly with the exhibition's proposal to present technological innovations in the segment and discuss the future of the sector.

Importance of partnerships

The president of Abese highlighted that partnerships are essential to stimulate the development of new technologies. "That's why we signed this agreement, with the goal of promoting the evolution of electronic security systems.".

Selma Migliori also highlighted the challenges faced by the world during the pandemic. “After two years without the possibility of holding this fair, here we are connected to begin the 23rd edition of Exposec, the largest security fair in Latin America. I realized that this connection is stronger than I myself imagined. It is common to all the actors present here. It is solid, and it is full of purpose. But what purpose? To care for others!” she emphasized.

The Municipal Secretary of Urban Security, Elza Souza, reminded everyone that we are still in a recovery phase and that "the fair is an important moment to discuss this major issue, which is the security of citizens and businesses." "With an event of the magnitude of Exposec, we win, and society wins," she stated.

General João Camilo Pires de Campos highlighted the increasing use of technology by state security forces and programs such as Detecta, which gathers information about the sector and makes it available to all organizations. "Technology has the capacity to multiply police power and increase citizen safety," he pointed out.

Following that, the authorities cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the Exposec 2022 trade fair.
