Until December 2020, the following will come into effect LGPD (General Law on the Protection of Personal Data), which promises to impact all companies that work with the collection of personal data in Brazil. This also includes the real estate sector.
As a principle of adapting to the new rules, the sector created the "Secure Condominium" project, a security seal so that society can recognize which condominiums will offer a minimum level of security in compliance with international best practices in data security.
According to Walfrido Brito Pinheiro, CEO of BI Business Indicators – IT Management, it is necessary for everyone who works with citizens' data to start looking for ways to adapt to the laws, which promise to drastically change the dynamics and business of companies. The executive participated in the 1st ESS Condominium Seminar, held in parallel with Exposec – International Security Fair.
“Lawsuits against companies regarding the use of personal data could become the new labor lawsuit, considering our culture. The company will bear the cost of defending itself, the cost to its image. A significant economic cost that could lead to a business collapse. It will be a learning experience for Brazilian companies. Data leaks have led to companies being devalued,” he warns.
Personal and women's safety apps are presented at Exposec.
Projects and systems for collective and property security are already a reality in our society. For this reason, Security Care, a startup that is part of the Startup Island at the ABESE Connect Arena during Exposec 2019, decided to innovate and offer guarantees for individuals and their families.
The Security Care Shared Protection System has three features that set it apart from anything else on the market, according to Elton Stall, the company's Commercial Director. The most striking feature is the "Safer Woman" function, which, unlike the alert button distributed by the courts to women with protective orders, is automatic. "The panic button, as it's called, needs to be activated by the victim," Stall points out. "Our system, operated via cell phone, alerts the victim to the approaching threat and sends an alert to the woman, her family, and the police. The alert is triggered when the person under restraining order reaches the distance determined by the court.".
The program can be downloaded for free from the Apple or Samsung app stores. "The first step is to add five trusted people to receive alerts in case of emergency and to also be available to receive alerts from those you are willing to protect.".
Safety Net
The other function of Security Care is the Protection Network. “For greater security, we created a protection network that includes nearby users regardless of whether they are in the added group,” explains Stall. “Thus, anyone within a 500-meter radius who has the program will receive an alert in case of a problem and can help.”.
Scheduled alert
This feature places loved ones under your protection. "Through it, it's possible to monitor people the user chooses to protect (child, spouse, parents, etc.) during a specific period," says Stall. "If the protected person is not at the designated location at the scheduled time, an alert is generated for the protector. This way, it's possible to know, for example, if the child arrived safely at school on time.".
Startup offers outsourced camera monitoring services.
Companies that sell electronic security equipment face the challenges of providing monitoring for the cameras purchased by their clients. Seeing this potential market opportunity, Skynet, part of the Startup Island located in the ABESE Conecte-se Arena at Exposec, offers a solution: outsourcing monitoring using innovative technology, increasing team productivity, service quality, and the level of information available to both clients and end users, according to Roberto Leon, the company's founder. "With its own monitoring system, entirely developed using web technology, the application offers a high level of security and protection for client information," he assures. "Furthermore, the end user has the great advantage of being able to access everything through a simple smartphone.".
Leon states that his intention is to create the "Uber of monitoring." "So much so that the client will rate the service provided," he assures. Leon explains that since the system works entirely via the web, monitors can work from their homes, without needing a specific location. "We will train these people and provide all the support they need to operate.".
The Startup Island operates within the ABESE Arena.
