According to data released in the Security Index Report, conducted by the company Unisys Security Index, Brazil is the country most concerned about security in the world, registering in 2020 its highest score since 2013, reaching 197 points on a scale ranging from 0 to 300, and ranking first among the 15 countries evaluated.
The Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies (Abese) predicted that the security sector would see an increase of 12% in 2020, in addition to a 30% increase in the remote access and monitoring sector. Due to the pandemic, this prediction came true, and the demand for security solutions registered an increase of 40% between April and May of this year.
Maria Lígia Graziosi Ferreira, a resident and building manager of a condominium in Sorocaba, says she doesn't feel fear, but rather a certain apprehension. "I feel safe in my own home, that's why I installed cameras and raised the walls," she says.
In addition to the installed cameras and high walls, Maria's building also implemented an access control system this year using biometrics and vehicle tags with radio frequency identification.
According to Luciana Reis, managing partner of Grupo Paktualseg, a company specializing in security and responsible for the service installed in the building, the owners made an excellent choice. “With the service implemented, there is greater control over who enters or leaves the building. All movement is recorded with names and times, so in addition to the doorman keeping an eye on everything, we also have records. This helps a lot in case of an unforeseen event!” comments Luciana.
For Maria Lígia, not only is this registration a benefit, but also the speed that this automation allows. "With the tag, the resident doesn't need to wait for the doorman to return from somewhere to be able to enter, for example, which certainly provides greater security," she says.
As predicted, Luciana's company also recorded an increase in demand for security services. "We registered an increase of 40% compared to the previous year. The most sought-after service was remote gatekeeping, due to the quality of effective access control with security conversion. Regarding costs, we recorded reductions averaging 70% compared to on-site gatekeeping," she explains.
And if it's up to Maria Lígia, the growth of this sector shouldn't stop there. She says that at the latest, she intends to install the market's latest innovation in her building: the world's fastest gate, which opens and closes in half a second.
“"With this new, super-resistant gate system that opens and closes in seconds, I won't need to build cages in the parking areas," Maria points out.
And Luciana's expectations for 2021 are promising. "We have a growth forecast of around 40% due to the economic issues in our country, as the increase in condominium fees will generate a demand for more advantageous security solutions with reduced costs, without sacrificing quality!", she concludes.
