According to Rimantas Sipas, director of Cipa Fiera Milano, promoter of Exposec, the activity will bring together, for the first time in a single event, the different approaches to security for the entire hospitality sector. "The partnership with ESS was fundamental in having the main players in Brazilian hospitality at our event," he comments.
“Hotels, hospitals, and shopping centers require different types of access control. Added to this are very specific danger situations. We want participants to understand best practices and replicate or adapt them according to their needs,” emphasizes Fábio Caruso, director of ESS.
Accor Hotels' Security and Risk Manager, Dionísio Campos, will share the actions, protocols, and procedures of his department, which focuses on prevention and support in managing low-impact crises, responding quickly and providing appropriate support in different scenarios. He notes that in Brazil, hotels that are not part of chains face greater difficulties in securing the necessary investments to implement their security standards, remaining primarily focused on fire risk.
The proposal from the Security Manager of the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital, Dov Smaletz, is to foster discussion for the creation of a Multi-Hospital Assistance Plan, in addition to presenting the hospital's own contingency plan. "We want to take this opportunity to reinforce the idea that private hospitals can support each other to contribute to public safety during disasters," he explains.
Master Security Plan
In the case of Hospital das Clínicas, the focus will be on the Security Master Plan implemented in 2015, which has been updated since then, to the point that it will launch at the ESS Congress a self-service kiosk and an application for its 10,000 daily patients to help in the authorization of visitors. According to Corporate Security Manager Rita Peres, the registration queue should decrease by more than 70%, as well as the use of paper in the process, in a move aimed at acquiring a complete security service, no longer just posts or equipment.
Josué Correia Paes, an employee of the USP Security Superintendency, will present a case study on the area surrounding the São Paulo Health Quadrilateral. This area houses several institutions that, in partnership with the Military and Civil Police, the Regional Prefecture, CET (São Paulo's traffic engineering company), Ilume (São Paulo's lighting company), and other public entities, have seen a decrease in violence, transforming this sensitive region into a safer place. "This program demonstrates real results and how important it is to include institutional relationships in security plans for the areas surrounding developments.".
BP – Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo is another healthcare institution that will be present at the event. BP's Security Master Plan will be presented by the Corporate Security Manager, Adriano Mizuguti, who will demonstrate how integrating security needs into the institution's strategic planning generates operational efficiency. This is because the needs inventories are already defined for the coming years, and the entire process is faster since priorities are already outlined. This includes security needs, potential expansion or closure of units, as well as various other planned developments.
Shopping Centers
The 1st ESS Congress – Higher School of Security will also address the difficulties of implementing security protocols in shopping centers, private places that are fully open to the public without restriction. The Security Manager of Eldorado, Nelson Barbosa Junior, and the Operations Coordinator of Vila Olímpia, Mário Moura, will discuss these difficulties and how shared experiences and technology can help overcome the challenges.
To achieve this, they will address preventative measures across the various complexes they are responsible for, including typical day-to-day risks, tools used, training, simulations, minimizing the impact on the shopping centers themselves in case of a crisis, and other solutions that can be replicated or adapted for other hospitality sector units throughout Brazil.
