Entrepreneurship has gained prominence in the global economy in recent years, and this is nothing new. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), a global research and monitoring program on entrepreneurship, in 2019 Brazil reached 52 million Brazilians who own their own businesses. Of these, 74% are young people between 18 and 35 years old. This data shows a very favorable scenario for our country, as we are above the global average.
Throughout my journey as an entrepreneur, what I see at this moment is a huge interest in new ventures, especially in technology-related businesses. According to Deloitte, an auditing and business consulting firm, six out of ten executives have allocated resources to invest in IT, focusing on expanding their capabilities. productivity. Even during times of economic instability, like the one we are currently experiencing, corporations continue to invest, on average, 7.6% of their revenue in technology and innovation.
One of the factors driving this movement is the evolution in Industry 4.0, This creates new opportunities for those who want to venture into this field, in addition to providing various improvements to the country, such as job creation, income generation, and service production.
With the new normal presented during this pandemic, the demand for remote control, monitoring, and management of everything around us has become very clear. Some entrepreneurs and startups that were already on this path are receiving investments and attention at this time.
We know that starting a business from scratch is challenging and not easy, as you are constantly tested and face various challenges, such as sacrifices of time, money, and labor. If all that weren't enough, entrepreneurs also face high tax rates, bureaucratic formalization processes, and often a lack of encouragement and credibility.
However, the difficulties faced by those who start a business using technology don't end there. You still need to structure the company, train and manage professionals, take care of finances, develop leaders, create a marketing and sales department, and handle many other tasks. These are actions that don't happen overnight, and during this process, you may have "lost" a year or more before actually starting operations. Not to mention that networking, which is the lifeblood of the business, may be compromised in some way, since you will never again have the time you had before.
Despite the typical challenges of starting a business, I have witnessed the creation of an incredible ecosystem of support for new ventures. Angel capital, specialized consultancies, a new generation of incubators, coworking spaces, and business generators have all helped launch operations based on good ideas and sound intentions.
Finally, it's worth highlighting that, even with all the challenges, the entrepreneurial journey is rewarding, and making use of the technological innovations available to us opens up a world full of possibilities.
