With a turnover of more than R$ 6 billion in 2017, the electronic security sector should grow 2% more this year, due to a slight market upturn, with emphasis on the video monitoring and remote access control segments. The data is from Abese (Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies). Currently, the country has more than 26 thousand electronic security companies. And Exposec is the showcase to leverage this growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cipa Fiera Milano opens the 21st Exposec with the latest global innovations in the security sector at S\u00e3o Paulo Expo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exposec, the largest Latin American electronic security trade fair, opened to the public this Tuesday (22) at S\u00e3o Paulo Expo. The latest innovations in integrated systems, autonomous equipment and artificial intelligence aimed at improving people&#039;s quality of life are being demonstrated by 800 exhibitors.<\/p>\n<p>At the opening ceremony, Rimantas Sipas, commercial director of Cipa Fiera Milano, the organizer and promoter of the fair, thanked the team that, for 12 months, dedicated themselves to ensuring the most modern security in the world at Exposec. In its 21st edition, the fair entered the Globex international ranking as the number one in security in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>Abese&#039;s president, Selma Migliori, pointed out that Exposec is now a benchmark in the sector throughout Latin America. &quot;And it&#039;s happening at a particularly important time, when public safety is a priority worldwide and, especially, in Brazil.&quot;\u201c<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, according to Selma, electronic security is undergoing a transformation \u201cand we are part of this transformation\u201d. \u201cSo much so that we will launch, on Wednesday (23), at 10 am, the Internet of Things Committee, to show our engagement in the modernization process that has taken over the world\u201d, said the president of Abese.<\/p>\n<p>The S\u00e3o Paulo Municipal Security Secretariat is at the fair with the City Camera project. According to the secretary of the department, <em>Jos\u00e9 Roberto<\/em>\u00a0Rodrigues de Oliveira stated that electronic security is fundamental to making the city of S\u00e3o Paulo safer. &quot;We are working towards this goal,&quot; Oliveira affirmed during the opening of the fair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The use of new technologies helps with security, but it also facilitates criminal acts, says expert.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Terrorists and drug traffickers are using new technologies for actions that directly affect global security. This is the conclusion of the Executive President of CEAS International \u2013 Corporaci\u00f3n Euro-Americana de Seguridad, Eloy Melendre y Carrera, who spoke at the opening of Cobrase (Brazilian Security Congress), during Exposec.<\/p>\n<p>Remotely controlled drones for transporting explosives, poisons, and weapons, and equipped with facial recognition capabilities, are already being used today as selective weapons and for mass killings, Carrera asserts. \u201cThe technology already exists and is used in civilian and military life, as well as by terrorists and organized crime, which could have catastrophic effects on humanity,\u201d the executive analyzes. \u201cFurthermore, cyberterrorism has developed an electronic war that serves to spread ideologies of hate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carrera, who heads an international security and conflict resolution society and has worked in Iraq, Yugoslavia, and the Basque Country, points out that Latin American countries, including Brazil, are not immune to terrorist acts. &quot;This is because there is a close relationship between terrorism and drug trafficking,&quot; he asserted. &quot;For example, terrorism in Spain is financed precisely by drug trafficking,&quot; he affirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The number of employees in private security surpasses that of public agents in Brazil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brazil has enormous growth potential in the area of corporate security, which should contribute to improving the country&#039;s crime rates. This is what Miguel Liborio, colonel of the Military Police of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo and international security consultant, predicted, who gave a lecture on Tuesday morning (22), at Cobrase (Brazilian Security Congress).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cData from international organizations places Brazil fourth in the world in terms of security infrastructure, behind only China, India, and the United States,\u201d said Liborio. As an example, he stated that the number of private security employees in the country is 1.7 million, almost triple the number of public agents in the sector, 687,000. \u201cNot to mention the two million undocumented private security workers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Liborio, growth in the private security sector will come with a &quot;paradigm shift,&quot; which will involve investment in technology, community participation, and increased value placed on both public and private security institutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homes and residential buildings can now have high-tech cameras at a lower cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State-of-the-art Wi-Fi cameras are no longer exclusive to businesses and are now being installed inside and outside homes and condominiums thanks to easier access to cutting-edge technology at more affordable prices. These new technologies are on display at Exposec.<\/p>\n<p>One of the promising options in this area is HikHome, a line of plug-and-play Wi-Fi home cameras from Hikvision. The devices can be controlled remotely via mobile phone, including audio features and remote adjustment of the surveillance angle, already available to the Brazilian market at a suggested retail price of R$ 350.<\/p>\n<p>Intelbras is also investing in this area with cameras from the Mibo line. This year&#039;s launch is the iC7s, a Wi-Fi camera with a motion sensor, 360\u00b0 ambient surveillance with full HD quality, and an alarm control panel, among other benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The system can identify stolen vehicles and issue an alert.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The union of a physicist, a mechatronics student, and an electrical engineering student made it possible to create a successful startup in the area of vehicle security. Retina Vision offers a system capable of identifying stolen vehicles in parking lots and condominiums and alerting insurance companies.<\/p>\n<p>Paulo Silveira met his partners, Guilherme Camargo and Victor Miguez, in a course on technology at USP (University of S\u00e3o Paulo), when they had to develop an academic paper on vehicle theft prevention. \u201cWe did a pilot for Porto Seguro and, in two months, the system had already managed to identify seven stolen cars in S\u00e3o Caetano do Sul,\u201d recalls Silveira. \u201cThis had a positive impact of R$300,000 for the insurance company.
