The ICT Law is an update to the Informatics Law, created in 1991, which reorganized the incentive model to stimulate private investment in Research, Development and Innovation.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Marcos Pontes, participated this Tuesday (1st) in the opening of the 1st virtual Exposec, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies (Abese). During two days, the event brings together companies in the sector and discusses the future of electronic security in the country. The ministry also took part in the panel \u201cInnovation in public security and IoT\u201d.<\/p>\n
The main topic discussed was the progress brought about by the ICT Law, an update to the Informatics Law, for investments in research, development and innovation (R&D&I) by national companies, as well as advances in the creation of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. According to Minister Marcos Pontes, the law, which has been in effect since 1991, has played a major role in the existing research and development structure in Brazil.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ministry functions as a tool available to all areas. I have a reliable team that works by listening to the sectors, and it is important for society to see the return on investment from public policies. I am pleased to see these results becoming a reality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to the Ministry's Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Paulo Alvim, the law allows for more than R$1.5 billion per year in investments; it benefits more than 600 companies and generates more than 130,000 jobs. \u201cOur great effort is to make life easier for companies and mitigate the risks of investments in research, development, and innovation. If today we have a structure that connects companies to Science and Technology Institutes and the government, this is due to the ICT Law, formerly the Informatics Law. If it weren't for the ICT Law, Brazil would be a buyer of IoT today,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The event also included the participation of the president of Abese, Selma Migliori, and the director of the Brazilian IoT Forum, Claudio Violato, who highlighted Abese's role in advising and training companies in the sector to also benefit from the ICT Law and the development opportunities that the law brings. Abese is also part of the National Innovation Program Terra2 Inova (PNIT2), which mobilizes national actions in the Internet of Things sector.<\/p>\n
Also participating in the panel from the ministry were the Director of Science, Technology and Digital Innovation, Jos\u00e9 Gontijo, and the Coordinator of Industrial Innovation, Guilherme Corr\u00eaa.<\/p>\n
ICT Law<\/strong><\/p>\n The ICT Law reorganized the incentive model to stimulate private investment in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) by companies in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is responsible for receiving investment declarations from companies that qualify for the program.
