Exposec 2024: ABESE Arena showcases innovations for Safe City

The space will showcase innovations for cities and will launch a USP project to transfer Brazilian technology that reduces manufacturing costs.

What if, instead of having to call for reinforcements, the police intelligence center received a real-time alert if an officer fired a shot or was hit by a projectile? The ABESE Arena at the 25th edition of Exposec will show that this and other solutions are already possible thanks to electronic security. Curated by the Brazilian Association of Electronic Security Systems Companies, the event organizer, the space will demonstrate how public security can protect citizens' lives in the coming years.

“Technology is at the heart of the debate on public and private security. Solutions have evolved from a reactive to a proactive approach. In practice, this means that resources can prevent incidents or react autonomously and immediately, even before someone calls for help or arrives at the scene. And we are no longer talking about a utopian future; these solutions are already available and ready to save lives,” explains the president of Abese, Selma Migliori.

Artificial Intelligence for urban security

At the Arena, an intelligent system for Tracktum weapons and ballistic vests will be presented, making carrying and handling safer. The system is based on innovative hardware technology and a software solution that allows remote, real-time monitoring of the location of weapons and ballistic vests, receiving alerts and storing important information to prevent accidents and crimes. The sensors send an alert to the monitoring center if the weapon is discharged or the police officer is hit by a bullet.

Also on display will be a vehicle with advanced armor, designed to withstand attacks, and equipped with an advanced Allcom tracking system that monitors and displays the vehicle's conditions in real time, as well as cameras with artificial intelligence that monitor the driver and the external environment, capable of identifying risky behaviors at the wheel or around the car, alerting the authorities immediately.

Advanced AI algorithms are also a highlight of the solution presented by WeSafer. The brand will demonstrate how images are able to autonomously identify abnormal situations, such as crowds, fights, and vehicle management through license plate reading. Thus, both public and private security can rely on real-time alerts with important information for making more appropriate decisions for each scenario, generating more efficient responses.

Scati will present ThermalScan cameras, for outdoor use with 360° coverage, capable of automatically detecting, recognizing, and tracking an unlimited number of targets (people, vehicles, etc.) over long distances, even in the most adverse weather conditions and total darkness, providing high-resolution images.

These cameras cover areas several kilometers away (2 km for people, 4 km for cars, and 8 km for ships) without leaving blind spots, thanks to their high-speed rotation and the use of advanced optical image stabilization technology.

USP shares technology with Brazilian manufacturers.

The ABESE Arena will also host the next phase of the technology transfer program for companies in the sector, an initiative of ABESE in partnership with the Innovation Unit of the University of São Paulo (InovaUSP). In this edition, the ABESE LABS program will present the solutions of the Sentinela system using the Labrador board from the Caninos Loucos program, a Brazilian artificial intelligence technology.

“At the event, we will launch a survey to map national electronic security companies and, thus, adjust the program for a new phase of technology transfer. The goal is to share this technology, which is already used in the security field, to allow companies to develop their products more quickly, with reduced costs and increased performance, all with the protection of a national technology guaranteed by the largest university in Brazil,” comments Selma Migliori.

Unlike other devices, the technologies used in the open-source boards of the Caninos Loucos program are not discontinued, guaranteeing the investments of national companies in the development of their products. Once the open-source hardware board is used in the company's products, the product becomes the exclusive property of the company, enabling patent protection and intellectual property security.

Safe City: Safe and smart cities

The entire curation of solutions was guided by the concept of Safe Cities – that is, cities that use technology to become safer. Among other innovations, Abese will also present solutions for remote concierge services in condominiums from Atende Portaria, smart lockers for receiving parcels and packages autonomously and securely from Click Retire, among other solutions that will be demonstrated in practice.

“The selected technologies show that innovation plays a crucial role in building safer cities. The greatest benefit of a city structured around technology for combating and preventing incidents ranges from operational efficiency and reduced crime to a higher quality of life for residents. It is very important that municipalities and their leaders have access to this information because technology is a great ally of public administration in protecting more people without sacrificing budgetary sustainability,” concludes the president of Abese.

The ABESE Arena takes place during the 25th edition of Exposec, which runs from June 4th to 6th at Expo São Paulo, in the city of São Paulo. The event, the largest security technology showcase in Latin America, is free for security professionals. To register, visit: https://exposec.tmp.br
