Developed in partnership with the Uaimií Institute, this initiative will work towards creating a carbon offsetting flow through the planting of native trees and environmental preservation.
São Paulo, June 2023 – In line with its sustainability commitment, aligned with its ESG policies, the Maxtrack, [Company Name], a leader in passenger and cargo tracking technology in Latin America, has launched the project. Carbon Neutral, for the neutralization of carbon emissions from road transport in their monitored fleets.
Performed in partnership with Uaimií Institute, As a laboratory for experiments in the recovery of degraded areas and environmental preservation, the project will work on creating a carbon offsetting flow through the planting of native trees. The initiative will be developed according to a schedule, considering the implementation and operation of transportation, monitoring and intelligence, planting and follow-up of the areas, ensuring the targets for carbon reduction or offsetting with the fleets.
Fuel consumption measurements, CO² emissions, and other carbon calculations across the entire fleet are performed using Maxtrack technology, which, with the use of artificial intelligence, is capable of making drivers' driving more efficient and sustainable. With the savings generated, participating transport companies will be able to sequester the polluting gases emitted during operations by planting seedlings in conservation areas partnered with the Institute, located in Ouro Preto (MG).
The cultivation, monitoring, and transfer of the trees to their final growing locations will be carried out by Uaimií Institute, ensuring full traceability of the offset lots and maintenance of the breeding spaces. To implement the actions, Maxtrack and the Institute will promote the creation of a management committee, together with representatives of the transporters. The project will initially have a growing neutralization target, considering a reduction of at least 20% of emissions each year.
“From the beginning of our operation, we have been attentive to the need for environmental care in all areas in which we operate. This year, we started something more impactful, especially considering the large amount of carbon emitted by the freight transport sector. We are working towards a safer world through the use of technology and, with the Zero Carbon project, also towards a more sustainable world,” explains Gustavo Travassos, founder of Maxtrack.
