Smart Sampa, BOPE-RJ, the São Paulo Military Police, and intelligence solutions for public and corporate security marked the first day of the fair.
EXPOSEC 2026 began this Monday with intense visitor activity, crowded corridors, and debates about the future of public and private security. Held at São Paulo Expo, the largest security fair in Latin America brought together authorities, experts, and companies to discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, intelligent monitoring, risk management, combating organized crime, and the digital transformation of the sector.
One of the highlights of the program was the participation of Colonel Marcelo Corbage, Commander of BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion) of Rio de Janeiro, who addressed the strategic role of security within organizations and the need to bring security management closer to the decision-makers of companies.
During his participation at Exposec Arena, Corbage highlighted that security should not be seen merely as a cost center, but as a tool capable of generating value for businesses through loss reduction, risk mitigation, and strengthening competitiveness.
According to the commander, it is up to security managers to demonstrate to executives the financial and strategic impact of preventive actions, translating risk and protection indicators into concrete results for companies.
“"Security professionals need to demonstrate where they can contribute to cost reduction and loss prevention. When security speaks the language of business, it begins to be seen as an investment and not just an expense," he emphasized.
Another area of great public interest was the Smart Sampa booth, an intelligent monitoring program for the city of São Paulo that has been transforming public security through technology. In this edition, the Municipal Guard (GCM) is presenting a mini monitoring center, which replicates, on a reduced scale, the operation of the São Paulo program. The tool already has 50,000 smart cameras positioned at strategic points in the capital, with facial recognition technology, allowing the identification and arrest of fugitives from justice and the location of missing persons. Since November 2024, Smart Sampa has already enabled the capture of more than 3,000 fugitives from justice, the arrest of more than 5,000 criminals in flagrante delicto, and the location of more than 210 people who were missing.
Representing the initiative, Deputy Inspector Mara Marta presented SmartDog, a robotic device equipped with smart cameras, facial recognition, artificial intelligence, and thermal sensors. The technology uses the same infrastructure employed in the Smart Sampa cameras and assists in identifying fugitives from justice, locating missing persons, and supporting operations at large events.
According to the deputy inspector, the equipment is capable of accessing areas that are difficult for conventional teams to reach and is used to monitor hotspots, assisting in preventive and emergency actions.
“"SmartDog has proven to be an important tool for expanding the operational capacity of the Metropolitan Civil Guard and reinforcing security at large events and public spaces," he explained.
The integration between technology and security was also present in the participation of the ROTA Battalion from the State of São Paulo. Sub-Lieutenant Heleno, from ROTA, presented equipment used in the corporation's operations and highlighted how technological resources are increasing the efficiency of police actions.
Drones, advanced communication systems, modern weaponry, and tactical support tools were cited as some of the resources that contributed to the evolution of operations over the last few decades.
With 37 years of experience, the police officer emphasized that constant technological evolution has been fundamental in strengthening the fight against organized crime and providing better working conditions for teams in the field.
“"Technology evolves very rapidly, and today we have resources that significantly facilitate our operational work. This directly impacts the efficiency and safety of the teams," he stated.
With hundreds of exhibiting brands, technology demonstrations, content arenas, and participation from experts from all over the country, EXPOSEC 2026 continues until Wednesday the 3rd at São Paulo Expo.
